Three months of summer vacation can feel long if we don't make the most of them. We suggest activities you can do to enjoy them to the fullest Finally, we are on vacation. We've been waiting for this moment for so long and suddenly we don't know what to do with all this free time. We almost miss the routine of going to class and seeing our classmates (almost), but summer offers so much and we have prepared a list of possible plans for all budgets that will help us make the most of it, learn new things, and enjoy our freedom.
Housesitting
The trip of our lives taking care of someone's house. Yes, it's true that we will need money for the flight and food, but accommodation is free (well, free in exchange for taking care of a house and usually some adorable pets too). There are several websites where you can sign up: kiwihousesitters, Housecarer, Trustedhousesitters, Mindmyhouse, etc. We also have websites that compile the best pages for
Housesitting. We just have to take a look and choose the vacation of our dreams.
Music
Summer is full of concerts and festivals, so let's not miss the opportunity to see our favorite bands. Yes, going to Mad Cool or BBK Live can be expensive and we will have to save if we want to go, but there are also many other cheaper and even free festivals spread throughout our country that we should not dismiss. On the Internet, we will find all the information to plan a musical summer.
Tourism in our city
Yeah. At first glance, it may not be the most appealing summer plan, but both our city and nearby cities and towns have a lot to offer. Sometimes, we know Ibiza better than the place where we live, and due to routine, we forget that all places can surprise us. If we have a lot of time and little money, this can be an ideal solution so that we don't stay at home dreaming of trips to Cancun that we can't afford.
Volunteering
Dedicate some of our summer time to help others is not only good for our resume and to facilitate access to scholarships and master's degrees, but it will also be good for us. Nothing develops empathy and solidarity better than experiencing firsthand what others go through on a daily basis, and volunteering will provide us with a series of unique experiences that, as students, we should not underestimate at all.
Reading
Reading, reading, and reading. We have already talked on many occasions about how important and satisfying it is. How rewarding it is. Reading is traveling, growing, and getting to know, and now that we have time, let's dust off our list of
pending novels and get started. However, summer will fly by if we immerse ourselves in books. If we want to be aware of every minute of our vacation, then it is better to stay away from literature.
Languages
Summer is the ideal time to learn languages. Depending on our studies, there are languages that will help us more than others, but no matter which one, we will need a B1 to graduate and obtain our
eTítulo. With three months of vacation ahead, we just need to plan a small routine and practice a little every day.
Develop the habit of writing
One of the pending subjects for many is writing. Not only writing without mistakes or putting accents correctly, but also writing correctly. Taking advantage of the summer to practice can be a great idea. We can start a diary or a blog and write about everything that comes to mind or what we do every day.
Inventing stories and submitting them to a short story contest, describing reality, commenting on news...; whatever motivates us to create a habit, because as with everything, practice leads to perfection.
Free courses
In every city, there are offers of free courses or moocs offered by municipalities, universities, etc. Summer is ideal for getting started in photography, starting to play a musical instrument, taking a creative writing course, a language course, self-defense course, baking cakes course... The important thing is that we feel that we make the most of our time and learn new things, so it will always be a summer to remember.
Getting into sports
Summer offers a lot of outdoor sports activities that we can do. If we want to get fit and improve our health, it's a great time to start an exercise routine. Use the bike, swim, go hiking, or go to a park to practice capoeira. It doesn't matter what we do, the important thing is to get started.
Studying for pleasure
If we have any subjects left or we are weak in something, obviously we will have to study; but if we don't have anything left, it's also a good idea to review the knowledge from the previous year to fix it in our memory. Studying is continuous work, and if we like the degree we have chosen, we will enjoy reading about the subject and expanding our knowledge. It's not about studying to death, but about not disconnecting completely for three months. Happy summer to everyone!, tell us about your plans!
